Uddin died in a suicide bombing that took the lives of more
than 40 people, according to Pakistani news reports. No organization claimed
responsibility for the attack, which occurred at the funeral of a slain police
officer and wounded about 80 people, including two other journalists.
The Swat Valley was a focal point of conflict at the time.
Militants had taken over much of the area in 2007, and government forces were
reasserting some control by early 2008.
