Magdi Azein Youssef, a correspondent for Beladi FM and Darfur 90.3 FM, and an employee at the Ministry of Media and Communications, has been missing since October 26, 2025, when the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group captured El-Fasher in its last attempt to control all of Darfur and establish a parallel government.

Youssef was last heard from while attempting to flee El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, according to two local journalists who are following the case and spoke to CPJ on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal.

He was also a volunteer in the "tekaya," or community kitchens, in El-Fasher, the journalists said.

Youssef was among several journalists and media workers who went missing after the RSF seized the city.

CPJ contacted the RSF through its website to request comment on Youssef’s whereabouts, in case he is in RSF custody, but did not receive a response.
