Sara Rafsky, former research associate in CPJ’s Americas program, is a freelance journalist and M.S. candidate in Comparative Media Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She was previously researcher on Central America at Amnesty International in Mexico City.

Borja Bergareche is a Spanish-based news executive and former Europe correspondent for CPJ who still advises the organization.

CPJ EU Correspondent Jean-Paul Marthoz is a Belgian journalist and longtime press freedom and human rights activist. He teaches international journalism at the Université catholique de Louvain and is a columnist for the Belgian daily Le Soir.

Yan Cong is a graduate student at Columbia Journalism School. She has interned at the Chinese-language website of the Financial Times in Beijing and at China Daily USA.

Samantha Libby, CPJ’s digital manager, has worked in freedom of expression and human rights in Ethiopia, Vietnam, Kalimantan, and West Papua. She has also investigated the domestic and international arms trade. She is a playwright, artist, and an award-winning writer.

CPJ Middle East and North Africa Research Associate Dahlia El Zein, a Lebanese native who grew up in Cairo, received her master’s degree in Arab studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. She speaks Arabic fluently and has traveled widely in the Middle East.
