On December 25, 2025, Israeli authorities entered the apartment of freelance political writer and researcher Sari Orabi, located in Rafat, northern Jerusalem, and took him to a then undisclosed location.
His brother Fadel Orabi, who witnessed the arrest, told CPJ that his brother is on several medications for chronic conditions, including a herniated disk back injury, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
On January 4, 2026, Ofer military court placed Orabi under administrative detention for six months, before lowering the order to four months, his brother told CPJ.
On April 25, 2026, the military prosecution requested a new administrative detention order of four months, which the court approved, said Fadel Orabi to CPJ in April 2026.
CPJ emailed Israeli authorities for comment on this detention but did not receive a reply.
