On December 25, 2025, Israeli authorities entered the apartment of freelance political writer and researcher Sari Orabi, located in Rafat, northern Jerusalem, and took him to a then undisclosed location.
His brother Fadel Orabi, who witnessed the arrest, told CPJ that his brother is on several medications for chronic conditions, including a herniated disk back injury, high blood pressure and cholesterol.
On January 4, 2026, Ofer military court put Sari Orabi under administrative detention for six months, before lowering the order to four months, Orabi’s brother told CPJ.
CPJ emailed Israeli authorities for comment on this detention but did not receive a reply.
