Bal, former editor in chief of the Kurdish-language periodical Medya Gzmesi, was arrested with his wife after their home was raided by police. He and his wife, who was eight months pregnant at the time, were held at the and-terror branch of
Istanbul Police Headquarters. Bal’s wife was released after 10 days. Bal was accused of disseminating separatist propaganda and is being held in Istanbul’s Bayrampasa Prison.
