Israeli soldiers arrested journalist Saleim Salman, 35, programs director at Palestinian privately-owned Kul Al-Nas TV on January 1, 2026, after raiding his home in the city of Tulkarm in the northern West Bank.
His father, Suheil Salman, told CPJ that a large number of Israeli forces surrounded their neighborhood and broke into their house, harshly beating Salman upon entry. He said the journalist was not allowed to put on warmer clothes or shoes before being escorted out and further assaulted. Two of his mobile phones and another belonging to his wife were confiscated.
The family said they were not informed of Salman’s whereabouts until he was placed under a six-month administrative detention order on January 12, 2026.
Salman, a father of two, was being held at the Israeli military’s Manashe Detention Center near the Salem Detention Centre and close to Jenin.
CPJ emailed the IDF International Press Desk for comment, and was asked to provide Salman’s identification number, information the organization does not disclose.
