On March 19, 2026, Israeli soldiers arrested freelance journalist Qutaiba Hamdan from his home in Beitunia, around four kilometers (2.5 miles) away from Ramallah, West Bank.
His brother Ahmad told CPJ that forces raided Hamdan’s home at dawn and took him to Shaar Binyamin detention center, adjacent to Ofer Prison in the West Bank.
The family was not aware of any charges, said Ahmad Hamdan, and no court hearing dates had been set for his brother so far.
Hamdan was previously arrested on September 17, 2024 and released on August 11, 2025, according to his brother.
CPJ requested comment from the Israeli Prison Service for the detention location and conditions of Hamdan but had not received a response at the time of publication.
