On May 6, 2024, Mustafa Ayyad, a freelance Palestinian photojournalist, was killed after he was critically injured in an Israeli airstrike on his home in Gaza City’s Azzaytoun neighborhood.
Ayyad suffered injuries to his head, heart, and liver, and was taken to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ayyad worked for Al Jazeera on a freelance basis during the war, according to the outlet.
