Mohammad Daud Anwari, a technical worker for the state-run broadcaster Radio Television Afghanistan, was killed during an attack by the Taliban, according to Ilias Alami, from the independent watchdog organization, Afghan Journalist Safety Committee, and news reports.

Anwari, 52, was on night duty at the time of the attack on Tape-e-Television, an area of the city where many local media antennas are located, Alami said.

The attack came as part of the Taliban’s assault on and attempt to take over the provincial capital Ghazni, The assault left at least 100 Afghan police and soldiers, and at least 20 civilians dead, according to The Associated Press.

Anwari, who worked at the station for 35 years, had a wife and six children, Alami told CPJ.
