Tikiz, one of Özgür Gündem’s Iğdir correspondents, was taken into custody on Jan. 21, 1994. She was formally arrested a week later and charged with membership in the PKK. Articles she has written about the security force operations and human rights violations in the Southeast are cited as evidence in her ongoing trial.
