A correspondent fo rDeng in Diyarbikir, Isik was arrested in March 1990 and charged with “disseminating separatist propaganda.” The charge stems from an incident in which the journalist allegedly read a statement by variou spolitical journals which referred to the situation of the Kurdish people.
