Husam Mubarak, a sound technician for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa Voice Radio, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his home in Beit Lahiya, in the northern Gaza Strip, on October 13, 2023.
Mubarak was previously counted as a journalist in CPJ’s database; his status was changed to media worker after a rigorous verification process in June 2026 that included desk research and talking to two credible sources from his outlet confirmed that he was a sound technician engineer for the outlet.
