On August 4, 2025, police arrested Glody Ndaya, director general of the privately owned Eventsrdc.com, in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, following a defamation complaint.
Ndaya was detained at the provincial police station, then transferred on August 5 to the prosecutor’s office in Kinshasa’s Gombe municipality, her lawyer, Eric Andoy Elungu, told CPJ. She was taken to Kinshasa’s Makala central prison on August 6.
Andoy said Ndaya’s arrest was related to a defamation complaint over the publication by Eventsrdc.com of an investigation alleging medical malpractice by a Kinshasa doctor, Vincent Lokonga. The investigation was not carried out by Eventsrdc.com and was credited to “an independent investigative unit.”
The story was also published by CongoQuiotidien.com and Congo Presse.
Ndaya was released on August 7.
CPJ’s August 2025 calls to Lokonga and government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya went unanswered.
