A stringer of Comorian origin working for Agence France-Presse, Soihili was arrested in August 1990 and reportedly accused of particiapting in an alleged coup attempt. He was arrested along with over a dozen othe rpeople believed to be supproters of Mohammad Taki, the leader of the National Union for Democracy who contested the outcome of the March 1990 presidential elections. Soihili is being held without charge or trial, and reports indiciate that he may have been tortured.
