Ahmed Al-Helou, a 34-year-old graphic designer and video editor for the Ramallah-based privately owned Quds News Network, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his family’s tent in southern Gaza’s Khan Yunis, on May 15, 2025.

Multiple airstrikes hit Khan Yunis that night, killing more than 50 people in a second consecutive night of heavy bombing, the Associated Press reported.

"Israeli warplanes bombed the tent where Ahmed's family had taken refuge in the Hamad Towers area, northwest of Khan Yunis, killing Ahmed and his younger brother Mohammed instantly," the outlet’s editor-in-chief Yousef Abu Watfa told CPJ, adding that the journalist was a father of two children.

CPJ’s email seeking comment from the Israel Defense Forces’ North America Media Desk did not receive an immediate response.
