Amid the unprecedented public health threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 190 groups joined together to urge world leaders to immediately and unconditionally release all journalists imprisoned for their work.
Thousands of people joined the call, with 11,337 signatures on the petition. And while there is still more work to be done, with your help some journalists have already been freed.
We sent the petition to all leaders of countries with jailed journalists, and we wrote to the U.N. Secretary General asking him to take urgent action on behalf of those still behind bars.
