Özçelik, a contributor to Azadi was charged with a “separatist propaganda” on Sept. 26, 1993, for an article he wrote for the now defunct pro-Kurdish weekly. He was sentenced to two years in prison on Aug. 20, 1994, and is serving his sentence in Hatay prison.
