Nathan, owner and director of the Voice of Peace radio station and a prominent peace activist, was convicted of breaking a 1986 law prohibiting unauthorized contact between Israelis and “terrorist groups.” He was tried for having met with PLO Chairman Yasir Arafat in Tunis in March 1990. He was sentenced on October 6, 1991 to 18 months in prison. He entered Maasiyahu prison in Ramle on October 10.
