Peshawar Press Club
ATTACKED

Dozens of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) activists stormed into the Peshawar Press Club during a news conference held by dissident PML members.

The activists, who were armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles, pistols and sticks, beat up journalists and dissident members when they were asked to leave the club premises, according to local news reports.

Police arrested six activists and seized their weapons. The press club registered a case against provincial PML president and federal minister for political affairs, Amir Mugam, and several other leaders of the league.

After an emergency meeting, the journalists staged a sit-in in front of the Chief Minister’s house. The club also announced a boycott of all PML activities.
