Aliou Salah, an investigative reporter for the independent French-language daily Liberté,
was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the late morning as he
was leaving his home near Blida, south of Algiers. According to his
colleagues, Aliou Salah’s name was on a fundamentalist rebel group’s
death list that was displayed at mosques in Blida.
