To mark World Press Freedom Day 2017, join the Committee to Protect Journalists, Access Now, and Article 19 at the EU Delegation to the United Nations for a panel discussion on strategies to address challenges to freedom of expression. The panel will discuss global trends toward suppression of free speech and press freedom, approaches to curbing hate speech, and the impact of “post-truth” politics and propaganda. Moderated by Quinn McKew, the Deputy Executive Director of Article 19, the panel will include Courtney Radsch, advocacy director at the Committee to Protect Journalists, Peter Micek, global policy and legal counsel for Access Now, in conversation with a senior journalist. Opening remarks will be made by H.E. Ambassador João Vale de Almeida, head of the EU Delegation to the United Nations.
