Media Law Resource Center Conference 2017

On March 13, 2017 at the University of Miami, the Media Law Resource Center the will hold a conference, “Legal Issues Concerning Hispanic and Latin American Media.” The conference will look at:

  • Journalism Challenges in Latin America
  • Cuba After Castro
  • Online Piracy in Latin America
  • Covering the Immigration Debate

In particular, one panel will dicuss Press Challenges in Latin America Covering populist leaders in Latin America. Are there lessons to be learned in covering the Trump Administration? The effect of criminal and national security laws on coverage of government officials. The use of civil laws to chill reporters. Violence against reporters – and the problem of immunity. Privacy and the right to be forgotten in Latin America.
