New York, June 17, 2015–The Committee to Protect Journalists will release a census of journalists imprisoned in Egypt on June 25, 2015.
The census is a snapshot of journalists in prison in Egypt on June 1, with a profile of each detainee’s case. Egypt ranked as the sixth worst jailer of journalists worldwide when CPJ conducted its most recent global prison census on December 1, 2014. The threat of jail in Egypt is part of an atmosphere of censorship and self-censorship, according to CPJ research.
