Masked men threw a hand grenade at the home of Express News Bureau Chief Jamshed Baghwan in the Murshadabad neighborhood of Peshawar on April 6, 2014, according to news reports. Baghwan was in his home at the time of the attack, but no one was injured, news accounts said. The main gate of the home and a boundary wall were damaged.
Police collected evidence from the scene and initiated a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the attack, the reports said.
The attack followed an attempt to target Baghwan a few weeks earlier. The bureau chief had returned home at around 11 p.m. on March 19, 2014, when he found a suspicious bag by the front gate of his home, according to news reports. A bomb disposal squad arrived and defused a medium-intensity explosive device, the reports said.
