Philippine radio journalist survives shooting attempt

Unidentified gunmen fired several times at radio journalist Charie “Che” Indelible near his boarding house in the town of Kalibo, Aklan province, on January 2, 2009, according to the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility and local news reports. The reason for the attack on the director and anchor of DYYM Hot FM, a government-run community radio station, was not clear, but Indelible told the center that he believed it was related to his work. He has discussed sensitive issues on his program, including anomalies at a local electrical company implicating a government official, he said, according to the center. He was unhurt in the attack and police are investigating, according to the reports.
