Indian investigative agency questions Kashmiri journalist over interview with separatist leader

New Delhi, 16 July, 2018–The Committee to Protect Journalists today called on India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) to respect press freedom in Jammu and Kashmir and stop harassing Kashmiri reporter Auqib Javeed and the local daily Greater Kashmir.

Indian authorities must bring killers of Shujaat Bukhari to justice

New Delhi, June 14, 2018–Indian authorities must ensure that there is a thorough and credible investigation into the murder of Shujaat Bukhari, founder and editor of the English-language daily Rising Kashmir, and bring the killers to justice, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today.

Reporters assaulted by paramilitary officers in India

New Delhi, June 5, 2018–Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir state should identify and punish the officers who assaulted freelance reporter Muheet ul Islam, and allow journalists to do their jobs without fear of retaliation, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today.

French documentary filmmaker arrested in Kashmir

New Delhi, December 12, 2017– Authorities in India’s Jammu and Kashmir state must immediately release French documentary filmmaker Comiti Paul Edwards from custody, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today.
