The Committee to Protect Journalists, Il-Kenniesa, Reporters Without Borders, Transparency International, and European Federation of Journalists, are holding a vigil at the Schuman Roundabout – located between key EU institutions – to mark the 6th month anniversary of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder. Il-Kenniesa, anti-corruption activist group, are co-hosting 6 vigils with RSF, Index on Censorship, Transparency International, English Pen, Scottish Pen, Committee to Protect Journalists, European Federation of Journalists, and European Centre for Press and Media Freedom. Daphne Caruana Galizia, Malta’s most prominent investigative journalist was assassinated on the 16th October 2017 a few meters outside her family home. Daphne worked relentlessly at exposing corruption in top government officials and despite the numerous threats, harassment attacks and 47 libel lawsuits thrown at her she never gave up. 16th April marks 6 months since Daphne’s assassination. Malta’s loss is also one for Europe and has left a devastating impact on the people’s right to know.
