Book launch for CPJ’s annual edition of Attacks on the Press: Gender and Media Freedom Worldwide

Join the Committee to Protect Journalists for the launch of its annual publication, Attacks on the Press: Gender and Media Freedom Worldwide. Events will be hosted in Washington, D.C., New York City, and online.

At the Newseum in Washington, D.C, CPJ will host a panel, Attacks on the Press: Women on the Frontlines, which will open with remarks from Sandra Mims Rowe. It will feature Lara Logan, Michelle Ferrier, Molly McCluskey, and Arzu Geybullayeva for a discussion of their experiences reporting on the front lines, dealing with sexualized violence, and countering gender-related threats and restrictions. It will be moderated by Martha Raddatz. The event will be livestreamed for a global audience.

Later that evening, CPJ will host a second panel at Columbia Journalism School on how gender-related threats affect freedom of the press, featuring Scout Tufankjian, Kim Barker, Rawya Rageh, Alexis Okeowo, and moderated by Elana Beiser. Opening remarks will be made by Kathleen Carroll and Matt Winkler.
