On July 10, 2025, journalist Ahmed Abu Eisha, 34, was killed when an Israeli drone fired a missile that struck him outside his home in the western part of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Abu Eisha worked for pro-Palestinian Islamic Jihad broadcaster Palestine Today TV.
His colleague, Safaa al-Hasanat, told CPJ that Abu Eisha had just returned from covering events at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah that evening.
“He was sitting with his mother outside their home when his sister called their mother inside,” she said. “At that exact moment, an Israeli drone fired a single missile at Ahmed, killing him instantly.”
Al-Hasanat described Abu Eisha as “polite, calm, and kind; someone who avoided conflict.” Professionally, she said, he was hardworking, constantly pursuing stories, and developing his skills, including earning a PhD in Arabic in March.
CPJ emailed the Israeli Defense Forces’ North America Media Desk seeking comment but no response was received.
