CPJ and partner organizations today sent recommendations on the European Rule of Law Mechanism to Didier Reynders, the European Union’s Justice Commissioner, and Věra Jourová, Vice President for Values and Transparency.
The Rule of Law Mechanism will allow the European Commission to assess, among other issues, member states’ press freedom records.
CPJ and press freedom groups are calling for the process to be robust and lead to meaningful change to the lives and work of journalists at risk around the bloc.
