CPJ to realease annual census of imprisoned journalists

New York, December 12, 2013–The Committee to Protect Journalists will release its annual census of imprisoned journalists on December 18, 2013.

CPJ’s census is a comprehensive catalog of journalists worldwide who were in prison as of midnight on December 1, 2013. The numbers are divided by charge, region, and medium of work. The list does not include the numerous journalists who were imprisoned and released during the course of the year. CPJ published its first prison census in 1990.
