Following reports today of a double-bombing in Karachi targeting Shiite worshipers in a bus riding to a religious festival and later at a hospital, we issued this statement…
“Our colleagues in Pakistan tell us that they fear several journalists were among those injured in the blasts. We at CPJ remind our courageous colleagues of our support as they cover the mounting violence in their country,” said Bob Dietz, CPJ’s Asia program coordinator. “To counter the growing dangers, media managers must renew efforts to provide safety training and protective gear to the journalists they send into the field.”
