“We are alarmed by reports that Honduran soldiers detained seven journalists reporting for The Associated Press and the regional television network Telesur in their Tegucigalpa hotel on Monday,” said CPJ deputy director Robert Mahoney. “Although the journalists were released a short time later, we are concerned by further reports that local and international broadcasters have been taken off the air in Honduras, and urge those in power to allow all journalists and media outlets to report freely and without fear of reprisal on the current political situation.”
