Agnès Nkusi-Uwimana, the publisher of the now-defunct bi-monthly Umurabyo,was freed from prison in the capital Kigali a year and a week to the day after her arrest on charges of ethnic divisionism and libel, she told CPJ. Nkusi-Uwimana was sentenced to a year in jail following the publication of an anonymous reader’s open letter that was critical of the government.
