THREATENED

Identical envelopes, each containing a 30mm bullet, were planted on cars belonging to the three journalists and parked outside the Karachi Press Club. They were discovered at around 10 p.m. Days before. the Mohajir Rabita Council (MRC), an ethnic political group in Pakistan’s southern province of Sindh, had included Abbas and Khan on a list of 12 journalists the group considered to be “enemies.”

The MRC is considered to be closely associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the party allied to President Pervez Musharraf.
