Audio slideshow: A look at missing journalist James Foley

James Foley, a U.S. freelance journalist, was abducted in Syria in November. His colleague and friend Nicole Tung, a freelance photographer, spoke to CPJ about her experience working and traveling with Foley. A petition appealing for Foley's release can be signed here.

My fervent wish is that James will be released, unharmed by his captors. I know he was working for Peace in his capacity as a journalist. He means no harm and should be released immediately.

I pray that Jim is released with his life and dignity so that I can buy him a beer one day and talk about our tough times together and apart. He is an honorable man whom I hold in the highest regard.

Jim and I grew up together and he is a very kind person. I hope for his release and return to his family and loved ones.
