Police beat eight journalists during protests by opposition Awami League activists in the Gulistan district of the capital Dhaka, The Daily Star reported. Police also damaged two of The Day Star’s digital cameras and one video camera of ATN Bangla, the paper said.

The incident came as international and local media reported that at least 10 people were killed and hundreds injured in clashes between supporters of the outgoing BNP government and the Awami League across Bangladesh.
