Committee to Protect Journalists welcomes Kathleen Carroll as chair of the board
New York, May 26, 2017–The Committee to Protect Journalists today announced that Kathleen Carroll has been elected chair of its board of directors. The board voted yesterday for Carroll, whose term will run from 2017 to 2020, to succeed Sandra Mims Rowe, who served two terms as chairman from 2011 to 2017.
Egypt blocks access to 21 news websites
New York, May 26, 2017–Egyptian authorities should immediately stop blocking access to news websites, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today. The Egyptian government on May 24 ordered internet service providers to block access to 21 news websites, alleging that they supported terrorism or reported “false news,” the government’s official Middle East News Agency reported.
