New Delhi, June 13, 2019–Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should immediately intervene and instruct state police to cease arresting journalists under defamation accusations after news reports of a new arrest earlier this week, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today.

Washington, D.C., June 13, 2019 — Iranian authorities should immediately release three reporters for Gam (Step), a Telegram app news channel covering labor issues, and drop all charges against them and one other reporter for the channel, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today.

Berlin, June 13, 2019 — Romanian authorities should swiftly and thoroughly investigate the death threat against investigative journalist Diana Oncioiu and ensure her safety, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today.

Mexico City, June 12, 2019–Mexican authorities must immediately and transparently investigate the killing of reporter Norma Sarabia and do everything in their power to ensure the safe recovery of journalist Marcos Miranda Cogco, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today.

Bogotá, Colombia, June 7, 2019–The Committee to Protect Journalists today condemned a decision by the Venezuelan Supreme Court, which according to news reports ordered the independent news site La Patilla to pay US$5 million damages to a former vice-president as part of a civil defamation lawsuit.
