The RioDoce / Comisión de Seguimiento Caso will hold a gathering, “Justice for Javier Valdez, Justice for All”, in memory of Mexican journalist Javier Valdez Cárdenas, on the one year anniversary of his murder. The event will include remarks from CPJ’s Mexico Representative Jan-Albert Hootsen. Investigative reporter and editor Javier Valdez Cárdenas was fatally shot on May 15, 2017, near the editorial offices of Riodoce, the investigative weekly he co-founded in 2003 in the northern Mexican city of Culiacán.
