Stephan Waldberg

Waldberg, a freelancer working for Germany’s Freiburg- based Radio Dreyeckland, was detained on October 23, 1992, after crossing into Turkey from Iraq. He was convicted on January 22, 1993 of acting as a courier for the outlawed Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) and was sentenced to a prison term of three years and nine months. He is now in Diyarbakir Type- E Prison.
