Kabeya, a reporter for the opposition weekly Kin-Matin, was found dead on June 9 near Loana military camp in the Kintambo district of Kinshasa. A copy of Kin-Matin
had been placed near his body. His death may have been linked to an
article he filed on a 1991 trial in which security forces were
implicated in the 1990 attack on the Lumbumbashi University campus that
killed several students.
