Makawi Mohamed Ahmed

Soldiers with the Sudanese paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacked the village of Wad Al-Noura in Al Jazirah state, south of the capital, Khartoum, on June 5, 2024, and deployed heavy artillery, which killed about 100 people, including Makawi Mohamed Ahmed.

Ahmed, 57, was a reporter at the official state news agency of Sudan (SUNA). His brother, Shamseddine Mohamed Ahmed, was also killed in the attack.

CPJ was unable to confirm further details about Ahmed’s death. CPJ’s emails to the RSF about Ahmed’s killing received no replies.
