Hayrettin Soykan

Soykan, owner and responsible editor of the now defunct right-wing Ak-Zuhur magazine, was sentenced to 20 months in prison and US$8,000 in fines for publishing “propaganda on behalf of an illegal organization.” He was arrested and sent to jail on Jan. 13, 1994, when the appeals court upheld his conviction. His fines were converted to three years in prison because he could not pay them.
