Cheng, a reporter for the Yueyang bureau of Pictorial Magazine, was sentenced by the Yueyang City Intermediate Court in early 1990 to five years in prison on charges of “counterrevolutionary propaganda and incitement.” He is being held in Hengyang Provincial Prison No. 2 in Hunan Province.
