IMPRISONED

Director Mavioga of the private periodical L’Espoir was released from custody in the capital, Libreville. Movioga had been hospitalized for back pain and respiratory problems while serving a one-month prison sentence in connection with an article critical of President Omar Bongo, according to local journalists. His newspaper remained suspended by state regulators.
