New York, October 15, 2018–The Committee to Protect Journalists will release its report, “Nothing to declare: Why U.S. border agency’s vast stop and search powers undermine press freedom,” and an accompanying documentary, on October 22, 2018.
The report examines the impact that Custom and Border Protection’s warrantless device searches can have on journalism, including weakening the ability of the media to protect source privacy. Data and interviews for the report were collected by CPJ and Reporters Without Borders (RSF). RSF is releasing its report, “Why is the United States making it so difficult for foreign conflict reporters to obtain visas?” on the same day.
