Journalist released after two days

IMPRISONED

The Islamist administration of the Middle Shabelle region north of the capital Mogadishu released Abudulle, a correspondent of the private Mogadishu-based Global Broadcasting Corporation, after 2 days of imprisonment, according to the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) and local journalists.

He had been arrested after he refused to withdraw a story alleging corruption in the distribution of funds for local flood victims. Authorities subsequently arrested public officials in connection with the corruption allegation, according to NUSOJ.
