SOMALIA: Journalist and driver released after three days of detention

IMPRISONED

Bashir, a reporter of leading independent Radio Shabelle, was released with driver Osman Qoryoley after three days of detention without charge, according to local journalists and news reports. The station’s vehicle was also returned, Program Director Mohamed Amiin Adow told CPJ.

Bashir and Qoryoley were arrested at Mogadishu’s airport by Somali government troops and their station’s vehicle seized while covering an official press conference there.
